PRE-KINDERGARTEN ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for enrollment in a pre-kindergarten class, a child must be four years of age on September 1 of the 2024-2025 school year. 

Additional State Requirement – Student must meet at least one of the eligibility requirements below: 

  • Educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program - see qualifications below). Please complete the attached pre-qualification application and attach proof of income. 

  • Unable to speak and comprehend the English language.  Student must be tested and qualify as limited English proficient. 

  • Homeless 

  • Child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority. 

  • Child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty. 

  • Child who has ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing. 

  • Child of a police officer, firefighter, or emergency medical responder seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and received the Star of Texas Award.

Qualifications Based on National Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program 

To qualify for the National Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program, parents must complete an application annually. 

Qualification is available by completing the AGISD Pre-K Application Packet and meeting the guidelines in place for the current school year.
